Transformation

TODAY: Offer this prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to remember that in the midst of evil you are always there with me, that you will ease my fear and guide me, giving me the strength and courage to transform the evil and use it for your good purpose.

I believe that God will be with us in our fear and help us transform evil so that good can come from it, and that He will guide us in making this transformation. This belief is the basis of my response to the atrocities of September 11, 2001.

Their evil has created a void in our landscape and
   in our lives as well.
This vast ashen void, this
   bottomless pit of darkness
They would have us fill with fear,
mindless terror that feeds upon itself.
They wish us to remain isolated
in the darkness of our pain.

But I will not.

I will not let them win.
I have a God-given choice and
I will not give in to my fear.
I won’t deny its existence, but I will live through my fear,
Confident that I will be given the strength and courage needed
To walk in the light toward my future.

I choose to fill my void
with the goodness of life, smiles and laughter and
   generosity of spirit.
I will connect with others in goodness and love.
Above all, love,
And together we will illuminate the dark
   fearful places, soothe the pain,
And fill the void to overflowing.

The void they have created shall be transformed!
