TRUST IN GOD’S LOVE

TODAY: Share this poem by Art Murray:
Lord, I pray, teach me to smile.
A smile can be seen for many a mile.
So often a smile can brighten the day
For a lonely heart on life’s pathway.
So far a candle throws its beams
And covers so well life’s broadest seams.
A smile can do much to lighten a heart.
Teach me to smile and do my part.

How many times have I prayed for a difficult situation to be resolved in just a certain way? How many times have I prayed for a sad time to be fixed according to my desires?

How many times have I just not trusted God to do the right thing? The right thing is, of course, what I want done, the way I want it done and when I want it done. Usually, my desired time frame is “right now.”

The answer to all these questions is “many times.” Many times have I wanted things done my way, and many times have the resolutions not been my preference yet just what was needed. Many times is God saying to me: “Be patient, trust me.”

So I continue to work on what Jesus did in Gethsemane – to ask, for I believe God wants us to ask for help and share our needs, but also to trust. Trust in God’s will. Trust in God’s love. Trust that God will always come through for me. The journey may be rough, but my guide will always help me along the way.
