GIFTS FROM GOD

TODAY: Make plans to attend the special spaghetti dinner, silent auction and talent show at The Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, March 3. Proceeds will benefit the Lakota Mission Team and other outreach ministries of the church.

In Chicago I lived in an apartment on the third floor. In the kitchen there was a radiator along the wall, and next to the radiator was a table. I was four, and my brother was two. My brother and I climbed on top of the table a lot when my parents were not around. (Of course, I showed him how to do it.)

One night we heard a scream and then painful wailing. We all ran to the kitchen. My brother had fallen off the table and onto the radiator, which had a sharp metal point sticking up from it.

My dad picked him up and tried calming him down. But my mom noticed the blood. She saw that it was bleeding like crazy near his eye. I remember riding to the emergency room with my family. The hospital was right down at the end of our street, so we got there fast. The doctor said it was lucky the cut wasn’t his eye. It was below the eye. The doctors just glued the cut back together, and he was great afterward. That’s what I’m thankful for. God didn’t let my brother be blind in one eye. God is always there for us, taking care of us.

GIFTS FOR GOD

We, as the body of Christ, are asked to give of our time and money to God, and He in return promises to bless us. We can choose to give to ministries in other parts of the world or to programs in our own country or county. Those in need will surely enjoy the blessing of our faithfulness.

When Jesus went to the cross, he gave His life for us. God, who gave up His only son, made the ultimate sacrifice for our salvation. So, it is our job to live and serve Him and give as He leads us.
