Prayer Group

More than ten years ago our former pastor and his wife started a Prayer Group that met on Wednesday mornings at the parsonage. Although this pastor has moved on in traditional United Methodist manner, the group has continued to meet. Each Wednesday the group meets at 6:30am for a time of reflection and prayer.

The first few minutes are filled with greetings, coffee, and tea. After a short devotional, led by one of the group, individual prayer requests and concerns of the church are offered up in prayer.

The group is open to all pray-ers. We end by 7:30am, in time for most to get to work. The group gathers at the home of the Ginny Johnson.

For more information, please call the church at 703-281-3987. Prayer Works.

Prayer Focus

The monthly Prayer Focus encourages our members to pray and suggests possible action on issues of local or international importance. Church members and attendees are given bookmarks at the first service of the month that are printed with a specific prayer and general guidelines on one side and some action suggestion on the other. Past prayer focus topics have included local assisted living facilities, the Middle East, Darfur, Haiti, etc. Prayer Works.

Prayer Request

During each Sunday Service there is a time for Prayer Request. These request are given orally to the pastor who repeats them for the congregation. There is a Prayer Sheet included with the Bulletin that can be used to record these Prayer Request for personal prayer during the week.

For those who desire a private prayer request to the Pastor, there are Prayer Request Cards in the pews. Completed Prayer Request cards are then passed to the Pastor though the Offering Plates. Prayer Works.

Prayer Room

After the completion of our new sanctuary and class rooms in 1997, a group in the church felt the need for a separate room for prayer and meditation. A small room near the sanctuary was made available and converted into a Prayer Room.

This room is open each week day during normal business hours, Sundays and evenings that there are activities in the church. The room has an altar, two prayer/kneeling benches and comfortable chairs. This is an ideal place for quite meditation and prayer.
